MONCKS CORNER, S.C. – Nikki Haley, a Republican presidential candidate, will be hosting a town hall event in Berkeley County next week.

Scheduled for Monday, June 19, at 1:30 p.m., the town hall will be held at Berkeley Electric Cooperative, situated at 1732 Hwy. 52 in Moncks Corner.

Joining Haley will be a panel of energy leaders from South Carolina, engaging in a discussion about the future of power supply and how the state, experiencing rapid growth, will meet its future electricity demands. Berkeley Electric Cooperative expressed its pride in opening its doors to educate voters on energy issues via a Facebook post.

The panel will consist of Mike Fuller, President and CEO of Berkeley Electric Cooperative; Jimmy Staton, President and CEO of Santee Cooper; and Rob Hochstetler, President and CEO of Central Electric Power Cooperative, Inc.

The event is free to attend, with doors opening at 12:30 p.m. While the public is invited to attend, reservations are required and can be made through this link.

In February, Haley announced her candidacy for president of the United States, becoming one of 10 GOP candidates in the race. Despite facing legal challenges, early polls indicate that former President Donald Trump is leading among Republican voters, with as much as 50 percent support.
