Tim Scott Senator of South Carolina is expected to announce his decision on whether or not he will be running for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination on May 22.
The announcement will be made at an event in Charleston, South Carolina, and Scott has urged his supporters to attend. Scott, who is the only Black Republican in the Senate, has been considering a presidential bid for months now and has been on a listening tour since February, focusing on “Faith in America.” He has also made frequent visits to Iowa, a crucial state in the presidential nomination process.
Scott’s decision to run for the Republican nomination would put him in the mix with several other GOP contenders who are hoping to unseat Democratic President Joe Biden in 2024. At a recent town hall event in Charleston, Scott said,
“It is time to make the final step. We will have a major announcement." With his announcement just around the corner, it will be interesting to see if Scott decides to finally throw his hat in the ring for the 2024 presidential race.
